Deadworld was optioned by Framelight Entertaiment a couple of years ago and David Hayter was signed to write the screenplay. David, of course, wrote the Watchmen adaptation as well as the first two X-Men films. Framelight is securing financing for the movie and at the same time is revising the script with the director (who cannot be named). However, the director has signed onto another project which pushes Deadworld back even further. Framelight has the right to renew the option but as of yet, has not paid money to do so.
So, where does the Deadworld movie stand now? Who knows? It could die like the George Clooney deal did some ten years ago or suddenly spring into action. That’s how these things work. The producers are very optimistic that things are almost there.
Here’s the links to the original announcement about the movie being signed.
